Question and AnswerQuestion: Can you describe faith in short?

Answer: Faith is belief, confidence, dependence, and trust in something or someone.

Regarding salvation, it is by grace (unmerited mercy) through faith (heart belief, confidence, dependence, and trust) in the merits of Christ, His death, resurrection, and sacrifice for sin (Eph 2:8). This faith is not a work, as God enlightens everyone that comes into the world (Jn 1:9) and gives to everyone a measure of faith (Rom 12:3).

Regarding victory over sin, the Christian keeps the victory given by salvation over all known and willful sin by the power of God (1Pe 1:5) through faith (heart belief, confidence, dependence, and trust) in the merits of Christ, and his death, resurrection, and sacrifice for sin.

Regarding fruit bearing, when the Christian through faith (heart belief, confidence, dependence, and trust) in the merits of Christ, and his death, resurrection, and sacrifice for sin, lives and walks by the power of the Spirit (Gal 5:16 NASB Gal 5:25 NASB), they will not fulfill the unlawful desires of the flesh. If they abide in Christ and Christ abides in them by the Spirit, they will not commit any known or willful sin (1Jn 3:6) and they will bear “much fruit” (Jn 15:5).
