Here is a sample of a loft in the old Masonic Hall in Toronto, on Youge and Bloor. The whole building has been converted to lofts. This one can be had for only $599,900.

Here is the description:

MASONIC HALL LOFTS – Authentic LOFT @ Yonge Bloor. A spectacular PH LOFT with 20FT Ceilings. Designer finishes, Wide Plank Norwegian White Ash Hardwood Floors. Roof Terrace. Massive Marble Kitchen Island. NEW Appliances.

I really like the loft concept. Wikipedia defines a loft as follows:

Loft mainly refers to two different types of rooms. It typically refers to an upper story or attic in a building, directly under the roof. Alternatively, it can refer to a loft apartment which is a large adaptable open space either created or converted for residential use.

No, I am not thinking about getting a loft. I talked to Carl Langschmidt today from MrLoft.ca whose specialty is Toronto Lofts, and I liked his site so much that I thought I would do a post on it.

Old Town Hall AylmerWe have lots of older homes and buildings here in Aylmer, Ontario that would make lovely lofts. To the left is a picture of the Old Town Hall that was built in 1874.

The first floor is our Public Library and the 2nd floor is an Opera House that is available for rentals. I think they could put some nice lofts in the 2nd floor above the library!

You can view more info on the Old Town Hall on the Aylmer.ca site.

So if you like the Mason Hall pictures, check out Carl’s pictures of the top 50 lofts in Toronto where there are lots more very interesting lofts. Enjoy!
