I have been carrying a small New Testament in my shirt pocket for quite some time now, and I try to remember to take it with me everywhere I go. Many times I am able to pull it out and look up a scripture that has come to my mind or if I am waiting somewhere I spend some time in reading.
Not only should all Christians get a small New Testament and take it with them everywhere, but Christian parents should train their children (those that are of age responsible enough to take proper care of it) to take a small New Testament with them everywhere they go. Parents must also not only have it with them, but they must train themselves to redeem the time (Col 4:5) by using it. In this, we must be an example and show the children that we are serious about the Word.
We must teach ourselves and the children that we must desire the Word – that we may grow (1Pet 2:2) and that faith comes by reading the Word of God (Rom 10:17). It is faith that will help us and them to overcome sin, the world, and the flesh (1Joh 5:4).
Here is a list of places that a small testament could be used.
–Waiting in a line up to purchaseyour products.
–Waiting for your spouse while they are in the store.
–In times of temptation take it out and drive the devil away.
–While your are pumping gas.
–Have your children take a reading break when on longer trips.
–When driving somewhere with the family play “find that Bible verse”.
–While waiting for church meeting to start (parents and children).
–During break on the job.
Questions to consider:
Do you feel currently like you read your Bible enough?
Have you ever said you would like to read your Bible more?
Do you love the Bible more than your necessary food?
Is this just a nice idea or are you going to go and do it?

I think it would come in handy when I am reading in bed before I go to sleep. My large Bible is a little heavey sometimes.

Hi Kathy Marr; They also are very good when you are out and about. Lots of times I read it while waiting for what ever. Also I think all Christians should keep a few with them so they can give them to people that don’t have a Bible. They are only $1.80 and they stand up very good when used.
I just gave a couple of them to my adorable nephew Dylan and niece Lara who both loved them. Dylan reported to me the next day he had read 5 chapters of Matthew already. Hrmm I think I am going to give them to all the children on my street.

You know just yesterday I was going through some stuff in a desk and I found the very first Bible I had ever owned. I was in my teens when I got it. It’s a small red New Testament with Psalms. There is something about the first Bible one is given that makes it special. I have heard that whenever we read the Bible it never goes back void.
(Isa 55:11) “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”
I certainly have said to myself ,,,”I should read the Bible more” and how I have wanted it in the waiting room many times..

Oh!! cute niece and nephew. I clicked on the name to see their picture.
When I was part of a Methodist church I had a little program where I bought a mailing list that contained all the new people to the community. I bought some Bibles they where called the HOPE Bible. I sent them to all the new people that where on the list. I made a pot holder to go in the package too. It was fun I did it for about a year.
The church I go to now is very dedicated to the Wycliffe bible translators. They are part of the missions we sponsor.
It’s important to get the word of God out.

Hi Kathy Marr; Well I would encourage you to carry a small NT and do more reading.
Very cute.
Thank for provoking the idea of giving a NT to every child on my street. This is going to be fun. Perhaps I can start a children Bible study group. I love children and they seem to really love me.
