With the help of the Lord I am taking the Word of God more serious. In Romans 10:17 we are told that “faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
To me, this means if we as the children of God read the Word of God in the Spirit, our faith will increase. Here are a few scriptures showing the importance of faith in the Christian walk.
2Co 1:24 for by faith ye stand.
Eph 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
1Pe 1:5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
1Jn 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
On an average, I have been listening to the New Testament twice a month during my workout, which has been a big blessing to my soul.
About a week ago I decided that I need to be doing more reading in my Bible. There are 260 chapters in the New Testament, and if you read 9 chapters a day you can read through the New Testament once a month.
–If you are reading less than one chapter a day in your Bible, don’t you think there is something wrong with you, if you are spending time reading the Internet, newspaper, magazines, and books – even spiritual books – while you neglect the Bible?
–When is the last time you spent several hours, not reading, but studying your Bible? If it hasn’t been in the last month, do you feel ashamed (2Ti 2:15)?
–Do you desire to read and study your Bible like a newborn baby desires to be fed (1Pe 2:2)? If not, do you think you are spiritually sick?
–Can you have a clear conscience when you know that you lack victory in your soul while the Bible promises faith – which will give you more victory – to those that read it?
–Will you bow in prayer now and repent for your lack of hunger for the Word of God, ask God to revew your desire, purpose in your heart to spend more time in God’s Word, and ask God to help you MAKE time to do it?
