On Demand Books markets the Espresso Book Machine (EBM). This book machine is a fully integrated patented book making machine which can automatically print, bind and trim on demand at point of sale perfect bound library quality paperback books with 4-color cover indistinguishable from their factory made versions.
The EBM will print, bind, and trim a 300-page book in less than four minutes. The trim size of a book is infinitely variable between 8.25” x 10.5” and 4.5” x 5.5” and the EBM Version 2.0 can bind up to 830 pages.
I found it quite exciting that there is a Espresso Book Machines at McMaster University Bookstore in Hamilton and one at The University of Waterloo Bookstore, and both McMaster University and University of Waterloo are only 1.5hrs from my home.
There is also a EBM at The University of Alberta Bookstore, McGill University Library, and there is one coming (winter 2009) to Books Inn Inc in Miramichi, NB, and one coming (early 2010) to Oscar’s Art Bookstore in Vancover, BC.
You can print on demand titles available through Google Books, Gutenberg Project, other public domain book sources, or your own book.
Here is a video of how the EBM works.
