At the bottom of this post there is a list of how an average residential home consumes electricity. The numbers are from a 2001 study done in the US.
This 2001 US study showed that the average home consumed 10,656 kWh per year which would be 888 kWh per month or 29 kWh per day.
Our 1300 sq ft home has an average electric consumption of 13,092 kWh per year which is 1091 kWh per month or 36 kWh per day. That is with our water and space heating on natural gas.
I thought it was interesting in this 2001 study that AC and the Fridge took up 30%, space and water heating took up another 30%, and lighting was 9%.
Our 1300 sq ft home has an average electric bill of $128 which is $0.085 per kWh. Our average water and space gas heating bill is $44 which works out to 26% of our total utility bill. With our average water and sewer charge of $35/mon this gives us a total utility bill of $207/mon or $2,484/yr.
